Rubber gate valves
The closing element of a rubber gate valve is a rubber lined wedge-shaped gate raised and lowered by rotating the valve’s hand wheel. Owing to the rubber lined gate, the valve is less sensitive to impurities caught between the gate and the seal surface as compared to conventional wedge gate valves.
A competitive edge of these valves is their relatively favourable acquisition price. The body material is mostly cast iron. For oil applications, the same valve is available with red brass closing elements.
Applications in hydraulic engineering
The pressure resistance of rubber gate valves is rather limited, for this reason it is typically used for water piping shutoff purposes. Material: cast irons and steels.
Rubber gate valves can also be installed underground, if equipped with a separate extension stem
